Reminder: PE is every Tuesday and Thursday
Week ending 7th February 2019:
A busy week with lots of excited children on Monday with tales of their snowy adventures! Please continue to send your children into school with warm clothing so that they can enjoy their playtimes whilst staying warm and dry!
The highlight of our week has been a visit from Dr James Underwood, our boat building expert. He shared with both classes his expertise and pictures/materials to really bring our topic to life. A huge thank you from the Year 2 team and children.
In English this week, we have completed our letters to a character in our shared story and have started to look at writing clear instructions using imperative verbs. We all love this as we get a chance to be really bossy! Next week, we will be writing our own set of instructions for how to build an imaginary boat.
In Maths, we tackled telling the time to half past, and quarter to/past the hour on digital and analogue clocks. This was tricky for many children and we would encourage lots of additional consolidation of this at home. We are moving on to revision of rounding numbers to the nearest 10, halving and doubling.
There seems to be a shortage of art aprons in Key Stage 1, so if anyone has any old shirts that they would be able to give us, it would be much appreciated.
PE will continue to take place outside on Tuesdays and possibly Thursdays. Please send your children with appropriate clothing for the inevitable cold weather, with jogging bottoms, jumpers and coats! The Year 2 team.
