Welcome to Year 2
Oak 1 - Miss Kennard and Mrs Mulhern
Oak 2 - Mrs Wallis and Mrs Hockley
Week ending 12th October 2018
We have thoroughly enjoyed Wellbeing Week and have made the most of all the experiences and opportunities organised for us. The careers fair was a huge success and we were all sad to have to leave! The children were buzzing afterwards and were keen to share their aspirations for the future.
Next week, we are back to the normal timetable. In English, we move on to non-fiction texts and will be learning our shared text about a Rainbow Dragon. In Maths, we are looking at finding 1/10 more than a 2-digit number and 1/10 less than a 2-digit number. Later in the week, we will revisiting ordinal numbers.
Spellings - We had our first spelling test on Friday and were pleased to see so much confidence! Thank you for working on these spellings with your children at home. We will continue to have a test every Friday (except one Thursday due to the trip). If your spelling test sheet is lost, please let us know and we can give you a new one.
Cardiff Castle Trip - we are getting excited as the trip approaches! Thank you for making payments and giving permission. I think we are very nearly there! Thank you also to those of you who have offered to come on the trip.
Homework - please could homework folders/books be returned by Thursday 18th October?
Christmas card designs - these are being sent home either Friday or Monday. If you would like to order cards, mugs or labels, fill in the page on the left of the picture and send it in with the exact money in a labelled envelope. In the newsletter, it said to hand in to the office - please hand to us, not the office as we have to collect the money and forms for our individual classes. Thank you.
For those of you who were unable to make our 'Meet the Teachers' event, here is the presentation we shared - if you have any questions, please do ask.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 2 team.
