Weekly Update on Tuesday February 12th 2019
Another good week in Year 3!
In Maths this week, we are Counting up to Subtract (FROG) and using this method to calculate change. In English and Art, we are preparing a second Persuasive Poster: Come to Beautiful Bath! In Topic, we have been finding out about the Anglo Saxons and comparing them with the Vikings. In Computing, we will use Scratch again to learn to program. PE, RE, French, Music and Chess continue as normal, although it should be noted that this is our final Chess session of the year. A big thank you to Ferdo for a fabulous introduction to the game.
Next term, we will be introducing Column Addition in Maths. In English, we will look at WW2 Poetry and in Topic, we will find out what the children know already about WW2 and what they would like to know. We will also start preparing for our Evacuee Experience in Swindon by creating some necessary items! We also hope to fit in a Pollution-themed Science lesson, time allowing. Swimming will of course start on Friday March 1st - please remember your kit!
The last Spelling Test for Term 3 will be this Friday (15th February). Please do also carry on with Reading and Maths support . We look forward very much to seeing the results of the Viking Creative Challenge! Please do bring these in after half-term.
A huge thank you to the parents who valiantly battled the weather to organise the Year 3 cake sale last Friday. Snow, rain - we've seen it all! Many thanks too to all those who supported the sale. The extra funds for our trip are much appreciated.
Have a lovely, relaxing half-term break,
The Year 3 Team
