Taming a BuddleiaCombe Down School has lots of natural spaces, with plenty of trees, bushes and flowerbeds to keep tended. One of the main things we aim to do is keep our own grounds tidy and weed-free, but our Gardening Team doesn’t stop there!

This year we’ve also worked with nearby Prior Park Gardens, the historic National Trust site just a quarter of a mile from the school. Here we divided and replanted clumps of snowdrops with one of their gardeners and with Katie Smith, Prior Park’s Education Officer.

The Recycled Gardens Competition

In the summer term, we ran an exciting competition for Combe Down children, when we asked them to bring in recycled containers to use as plant pots and to plant them up with whatever they chose. Year Groups set up their entries around the school for all to see!

The winners were Year 4, with two original, colourful and blossoming displays, based around a wheelbarrow and a wishing well. They took our star prize - a picnic for the winning class in Prior Park Gardens on a day when it was closed to the public!

Bath in Bloom

Combe Down School won the Gold Award in this year's Bath in Bloom Competition.!
