 Week ending 5th April 2019:

What a busy week to bring Term 4 to a close! We have ended our Great Fire of London topic by writing wonderful letters from Thomas Farriner to King Charles, apologising for starting the fire and stating clearly why the devastation caused was not all his fault. It was fantastic to see the children draw on all the knowledge they have gained to be extremely persuasive.

On our return, the new topic will be Habitats. We are looking forward to an exciting trip to Folly Farm during Week 5 - details to follow very shortly.

In English, we will be learning 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff', exploring the characters and embedding the language of this traditional tale.

In Maths, we have been building knowledge and confidence with how multiplication and division calculations are linked and how we can apply these skills to problem solving activities. In our first week back, we will be exploring calculations involving money. The children will be extending their skills to complete calculations involving totals beyond £1.00 and becoming increasingly familiar with £2.00 coins and £5 and £10 notes.

PE will continue to take place outside on Tuesdays and possibly Thursdays. Please send your children with appropriate clothing for the inevitable cold weather, with jogging bottoms, jumpers and coats!

Don't forget to make use of Doodle Maths! There is a school expectation that children will try to spend at least 10 minutes on Doddle Maths a minimum of 3 times a week. It is a wonderful resource and we are already seeing an impact on learning within the classroom. If you do not have the necessary technology at home, let us know and we can arrange for your child to complete sessions within the school day. Many thanks.

Have a lovely, relaxing Easter break!
