Welcome back to a new term. It is lovely to be back and we look forward to a busy term ahead. Thank you to those of you who have sent in your payments and permission slips for the Cadbury World trip on 8th May. We have a few outstanding still and without the permission slip we cannot take students on the trip and they will have to stay in school with another year group.
The Term 5 Overview is available to view by clicking the Topics and Timetable tab to the right.
Next week in Maths we will be focusing on 3D shapes and nets. Key vocabulary includes: 3D; 2D; faces; shape; net; triangular-based pyramid; tetrahedron; triangular prism; square-based pyramid
In English we will continue our fiction unit based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory . Key vocabulary for this unit includes: commas, dashes, brackets, parenthesis. Our spelling focus will be the shus sound spelt -cious
Homework this week is a short reading comprehension on Roald Dahl. The text and question sheet is glued into the Homework books. Please write your answers directly in the homework diary. This is to be handed in by Wednesday 1st May. Please also continue to log on to Doodlemaths at least 3 times a week to keep up your Maths skills and earn those all important stars. Spellings for the term will be sent home with the first test next week Wednesday.
PE next term will continue to be on Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday will also be an outdoor session so please make sure you bring in appropriate PE kit such as leggings or jogging bottoms so you don't get too cold.
We have two new wooden planters in our playground! If you have any spare bedding plants that you would be able to donate for us to plant in them, we would be very grateful. Please send them in to Mrs Hawkins any time next week.
Don't forget that next week is a short week for the children. The school is closed for Polling Day on Thursday and we have an INSET day for staff on Friday.
Have a great weekend,
The Year 5 Team.
